A Slash of Savagery by R. E. Butler

This copy was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.  That said, I would  have bought it anyway.  I love R.E. Butler and have read every series she has written.  This installment is beyond good.  The story of Brone, a thousand year old vampire and Arissa Kensington, a witch is well written and holds your interest from the first page to the very last.  Arissa agrees to help the vampires protect their mates during the daylight hours when they are incapacitated.  The story unfolds quickly and all action is intense and breathtaking.  The attraction between Arissa and  Brone is instant and as their feelings grow, the affection blooming between them was a joy to read about.  As always with Ms. Butler, the sex was hot, but the genuine love and caring between these two was heartwarming.  All in all this was a great book to read and I loved every page of it.  Don't wait another minute before ordering your copy.  It's at a great price now and well worth it!!  Keep 'em coming, Ms. Butler.  Can't wait for the next one!!

Seal's Promise by Sharon Hamilton

This is one of the entries in the Hot Alpha SEALS Anthology and I was gifted with a free copy of it in exchange for an honest review of the story.   This is a short read and like all of Sharon's SEAL books, it highlights the closeness of the men in the SEAL team and their devotion to each other and their families.  This story started off with the loss of one of the brothers and goes on from there to show how his closest friend keeps the promise to watch over  the wife and unborn child of his fallen brother.  I found it to be a very moving story but told with a simpleness and humor that made it both emotional and fun to read.  I think it brought home to me just how tenuous life can be and that those who choose to love and be a part of a SEAL's life also become a part of something larger.  It moved quickly and seemed to happen if a short time span, but the way it was told and how the characters were explained, it was believable.  Life is short and each day is precious and Ms. Hamilton is one of the best in bringing those life stories home in a realistic, in your face manner. I thought this was a well written, touching story well worth the time spent reading it.  I look forward to her next installment to her SEAL team books.  Pick this one up today and enjoy!!

Wetwork by Marie Harte

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for and honest review of the story.  As a rule, I love just about anything Marie Harte writes, and this is no exception.  This is the third installment in her "The Works" series.  I read and enjoyed the first two books of this series, but this one is exceptional.  The characters are real, vibrant, and believable with a story line that is well thought out and written in a manner that captures the reader's interest from page one and never falters.  The complexity of the interweaving plots makes for and exciting read that keeps you on  your toes trying to figure out who is responsible for what and just who the bad guy could be.  The main characters, Trevor and Emma, are fun to watch getting to know each other and you really want to see them find their HEA.  Ms. Harte is and excellent writer of hot, sexy scenes and there is enough sex in this story to keep you interested, but the whole story does not revolve around the sexual aspect.  This is a really good story with overlapping plots and enough intrigue to keep you turning the pages until you reach the end.   I think you'll enjoy this read and if you haven't already ordered it, do so and settle in for a fun night getting to know some fun, interesting people shared with us by a wonderful author who, I hope, has many many more stories to put to paper.

Loving the Omega by Carrie Ann Ryan

I was gifted this copy in exchange for an honest review.  Before I begin, I must acknowledge that I love this entire series and am very sorry to see it end.  Although Fighting Fate officially ended the series, Loving the Omega gives us an insight to how two of the major players are doing since the fighting ended.  Maddox and Ellie have always been one of my favorite couples and it was good to see how they were facing the future.  As always, the story was a good one, moved quickly and kept my interest from beginning to end.  There was a sadness there  that touched my heart and made me feel the loss and emptiness that Maddox was suffering.  However, the story progressed well and left me with a feeling of hope and growth for the future.  If you are a fan of this series, don't wait or hesitate to pick up this book.  Well worth the time and price.   Carrie Ann Ryan has a good handle on these characters and makes them so real to the reader.  You feel part of this family and want them to be well and heal from all the past has visited upon them.  Loving the Omega gives you the feeling that all will be well--in time and until then they will do what they have always done--keep on keeping on!  Love this author and this family.  Get your copy today.

Martial Hearts by Mia Michele

First, I want to say, this was a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. That said, I really loved this book.  It is not your typical story of the people you meet at a BDSM Club.  The story of Mina and Damon will touch your heart like no other you have ever read.  Mina wants nothing to do with the lifestyle and the only reason she is in the club is because her best friend is getting married and wanted her pre-wedding party there since that is where she met her fiance.  Mina is a strong willed martial arts teacher and advocate for those who have been sexually assaulted and abused.  She definitely doesn't think she has a submissive bone in her body, and thinks the men involved in it as dominates are rapists and abusers of women.  Damon, definitely a dominate, challenges her to let him help her find her true self and the life she lost due to circumstances in her life.  Watching these two take this journey is wonderful.  Mia Michele gives the reader a look into the workings of the BDSM community and lifestyle that no other book I have read does and she touches on the discrimination those involved often have to endure.
This was a great read  and I would recommend it to everyone interested in this genre of books.  I hope there will be others in this series.  I would definitely purchase any books to follow.  Thank you for such an enjoyable diversion to my daily life.  I hope to meet these characters again in books to come!!

Blazing Dawn by P. T. Macias

This is a quick read, less than two hours, but it was a well written story with characters that were fully developed and well defined.  Ms. Macias gives well developed descriptions of each character and you feel like you would know each of them on site.  The story feels like it is told in the third person at times and this took some getting use to. The story went quickly, but I didn't get lost.  Dawn and Thunder's story was clear and their path to finding each other was fun to watch.  I enjoy this series of stories and how Ms. Macias links her Razor 8 series with the Tequila 10 one.  I think you will enjoy the read and look forward to the next one!!

A Major Seduction by Marie Harte

This was a gifted copy to  me in exchange for an honest review.  This is the second book in this series, but it actually occurs before the first book "A Major Attraction".  This is the story of Marie Thompson, best friend of Olivia Cava from the first book and Mike Cava, Olivia's brother.   Maria has had a crush on Mike since she was 15 years old.  This story is mainly about what happens when they meet again after eight years.  The chemistry is instant for Mike and Maria, but Maria is trying to keep her heart safe. Mike has ignored her for so long she's afraid to trust what is happening between them. This is an enjoyable read as we watch these two dance around each other while they figure out how they feel and what they want.  Marie Harte is one of my most favorite authors and I think you will love this novella. She never fails to entertain and this book is no different.

I Married A Bear by A. T. Mitchell

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.  This is a short read, but it is a fully developed story with complex characters that will grab your heart from the very beginning.   James Roark, Alpha of the bear pack and Laura Hirsch, daughter of the alpha of the wolf pack, find themselves in an arranged marriage that neither wants at first.  That quickly changes and then the challenge of facing all the problems from his own bears and the plotting of Laura's father to take over the bear lands.  These two face it all and find a way to make their own HEA.  A fun, quick read that I think you will enjoy a lot.

Fighting Fate by Carrie Ann Ryan

OMG.  I cannot believe this book.  It hit the ground running and I never got to take a breath until the end.  I received this advanced copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.  Well, my honest review is DON'T HESITATE TO BUY IT!  I can't tell you what happens in the beginning, but you will be in shock.  I was and it saddens me, even now.  However, it was a driving force for the rest of the book.  Cailin and Logan have been dancing around each other forever and that definitely comes to an end quickly in this installment.  I knew going into this book that it was the final one of the series, so I was expecting some type of closure concerning the demon, Caym and hopefully some relief for the Redwood Pack.  Ms. Ryan has quite the devious mind in finding these answers.  We discover the secret Logan has been hiding about his past and how it will be a major factor in ridding the Pack of their troubles.  There was one breathtaking situation after another and, as in the other books, the Redwoods suffered additional losses at the hand of this seemingly unstoppable demon.  Not all problems were solved, but HEA's were found and hope is abundant for the future.  I cannot wait for the Talon Pack series to start and hopefully we'll find that some of the lingering questions have found answers.
As always, Carrie Ann Ryan delivers a well written, exciting story that has the reader on the edge of their seat from the first page to the last.  Well worth the time (I got the book today and read it from start to finish in one setting) and money.  If you have loved the Redwoods from the beginning, you can't miss this conclusion.

Going the Distance by Cara Addison

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.  I read this book in two settings and I found it to be fun and fast paced.  The plot made me wonder, more that once, about the personal lives of my favorite authors! Our leading lady, Austin, is an author and attending San Diego to promote her new romance novel.  While there she meets Brett and they strike up what is suppose to be a week long romance.  As fate would have it,  a week is just not enough.  The story showcases their growing feelings for each other and how they handle their long distance romance.  It was fun and not for the faint of heart or someone who does not like reading hot, erotic love scenes.  Ms. Addison is one hot writer and I thoroughly enjoyed reading her descriptions of Austin and Brett's encounters.  I found it amusing when she shared Brett's reactions to her writings.  I could almost see the interaction between them.  I love it when a book is written so well that it reveals itself to me as actual visual scenes in my head, and this book did just that.
If you're looking for a fun book with an HEA, pick this one up and enjoy!  Well worth the time and effort.

Business Pleasures by La Davis

I  need to preface this by stating I was given an advanced copy of this novella by the publisher in return for an honest review.  This was a short read, approximately 50 pages, but it was fun and held my interest.  Our hero and heroine, Kenton and Aimee, were a warm and believable couple.  They made me want the best for them.   As Aimee's story was revealed, I found myself wanting her to be able to trust and believe in what could be, regardless of what had happened before.  It was a fast paced story and I did find myself wishing it was longer, with more background on both characters.  However, it was well worth the time and made for a nice quick read before going to bed.  Ms. Davis is a wonderful writer and she did not disappoint with this offering to her readers. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment in this series and you would be wise to pick it up to enjoy also.

Alpha's Strength by Rebecca Royce

This is Rebecca Royce's second entry to the Fallen Alpha series.  The first one appeared in the Ever After Anthology.  I have not read the first one, but it did not spoil this one for me.  However, reading this one did make me want to go back and pick up the first one.  I received this as a complimentary copy from  the author, but feel it would be well worth the price to be able to enjoy this story.
Without giving away much, this is the story of Cyrus, Alpha of the Manhattan wolf pack, and Betsy, his true mate.  This story is strongly connected to the first book, but if you haven't read the first one, you can still understand this one.  I like the way Rebecca lays out this story and draws in the Alpha's and mates of other wolf packs.  The telling of werewolf history and myths is very interesting to me and she draws you into Cyrus's past and his doubts with a smoothness that makes the story flow well.  Betsy is a delightful mate with her own set of problems that drew on my heartstrings at all she was having to process.  I really felt bad for her, but was so proud of how she stepped into her role as mate and wolf.  I've tried not to reveal too many spoilers and I hope I haven't confused you in this review.  But, I do think you will enjoy this book and recommend that you try it.  I believe it will have you coming back for more.

Sons of War-A New Series

Author Lia Davis is starting a new series, Sons of War, with the first entry called War's Passion.  I sounds like it will be an excellent story and I'm  looking forward to reading it.  It came out on March 1st. and I hope you all will take the opportunity to pick it up and get acquainted with this wonderful author, if you aren't already. It's a story with a heroine trying to escape and deal with her past, demi gods planing war against  the Gods, and a hero trying to stop the war while protecting the heroine.  As noted earlier, I have not read it yet, so the brief synopsis  is from the author description of the book and VERY briefly stated.  However, I do know this author and if this series is anything like her other books, it is well worth the time and price to pick it up and read.  Give her a try!

Tangled Innocence by Carrie Ann Ryan

I just finished a complimentary copy from the author of Tangled Innocence and she did it again!  Carrie Ann Ryan never ceases to amaze me with her story lines, characters and ability to draw the reader into her stories.  Tangled Innocence is the forth edition to the Dante's Circle story line.  This is the story of Dante and his mates.  Yes, I said mates-plural.  Jace and Nadie are perfect for Dante and they have all waited a long time to form their bond.  The story is a pretty straight forward one, but it keeps you on your toes.  The ins and outs are heart stopping in spots and there are scenes that will bring tears to your eyes.   It's amazing how cruel and heartless some families can be--you'll be surprised at the these twists and turns.  Look for the release date.  You don't want to miss this one.

A Major Attraction by Marie Harte

Just finished reading a complementary copy from the author of Major Attraction and I do believe you will love this story.  It is a short story, but packed with a lot love, laughter and fun between Major Kyle Masters and Olivia (Livvie) Cava.  Watching these two learn, not only to love but to trust each other was fun and hot.  I think you'll find it well worth the time to read it, so keep an eye out for this release by the ever entertaining author, Marie Harte.  She does not disappoint with this one either!

Getting started!!

Well guys, I've never had a blog before so this should be interesting.  I'm just a retired 911 operator who is not spending her day doing pretty much what she wants to!!  I love to read, so this blog will be fill with a lot of reviews of books by various of my favorite authors.  Hope you find some items you'll be interested in reading too.  I love paranormal books, western books, and some historical books.  Most everything will be a romance or suspense.  Not much on non fiction.  I find the real world to be depressing and no fun, for the most part.  But I love a good story and a hot romance.  If your taste run the same, join me periodically to see if anything here peaks your interest.   I'll sign off now, just wanted to say hi and get started.
